“Occupied City” documentary at The Little Theatre cinema 25th February

Bath and Alkmaar’s city-link came about as a result of the escape to Bath of Jewish activist, Elias Prins, when the Netherlands was invaded by Hitler’s Army in 1940.
British film director, Steve McQueen has now directed a documentary film about the war-time occupation of Amsterdam, “Occupied City”, which premiered at the Cannes FIlm Festival last year.  The Guardian calls it “McQueen’s moving meditation on wartime Amsterdam” –  the full review is here.
BATA are collaborating with The Little Theatre cinema, in Bath, to put on a special screening of the four-hour film, on Sunday, 25th February, at 2.00pm.  There will be a short introduction, plus complimentary refreshments during the interval, and a filmed Q&A after the film, with Steve McQueen and his Dutch wife, Bianca Stigler, whose original photobook on the same topic was the inspiration for the film.
Tickets for this very special, public event are available from The Little Theatre here.
